Campbell Soup goes Solar!!!

Yet another story of how a major corporation are doing their bit to help the environment, as well as to develop sustainable energy resources for the running of their manufacturing plant. With a strong partnership between major energy providers BNB Renewable Energy Holdings and Enfinity America Corp., work has recently begun on a 9.8 MW solar power project to be housed at the Campbell Soup Company’s NYSE facility in Ohio.

The agreement terms state that Enfinity will arrange financing of the project and will co-manage the installation, contracts and future operations, with SunPower providing all the engineering, procurement and construction, using it's Oasis Tracker system and solar modules.

All the electricity produced will be purchased by Campbell Soup to run it's production plants in the facility, and any additional electricity will then be sold back to the grid, for other purposes. Construction began in early June and is expected to be complete by the end of 2011.
